How Real Marketing Practitioners Use Twitter in 2015

Twitter has 320 million active users worldwide, 80% of the active users are on mobile, 500 million tweets are sent per day. The users spend an average of 170 minutes per month on Twitter. 77% of the Twitter accounts are outside the U.S.. 1 billion monthly visits to sites with embedded tweets. 

The worldwide distribution of the users: Asia Pacific 33%, North America 24%, Western Europe 17%, Latin America 12%, Central and Western Europe 7%, Middle East and Africa 7%.  Latin America is one of the fastest growing regions on Twitter, with 23% of the Internet users active on Twitter. The users in Latin American countries: Brazil 14.2 million, Mexico 8.1 million, Argentina 4.1 million, other 3.8 million. 

 

 

The ages of the Twitter users: under 18 – 16%, 18 – 29 years – 37%, 30 – 49  years – 25%, 50 – 64 years – 12 %, 65+ years – 10 %.

The most active times on Twitter - for B2B marketing, weekdays show 14% more engagement than weekends. For B2C marketing, engagement rates and CTRs are highest on weekends and Wednesdays. Users are 181% more likely to be on Twitter during their commute. Peak time highest CTR: 12pm, 5pm and 6pm.

Twitter is the most preferred social platform 93% used for marketing in organizations, followed by LinkedIn 91% and Facebook 68% respectively. 

Twitter can make employees more innovative, having a greater diversity of virtual Twitter connections mean that good ideas are more likely to surface.
